This paper examines the state of National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) financing during COVID-19 pandemic in Philippines, an event which coincides with implementation Universal Care (UHC) mandates on restructuring NHIP premium schedule, providing immediate eligibility to benefits, and expanding member benefits. Using ratio total expenditures revenues as measure financial viability, it shows that remains financially viable year 2020. Projections for 2021 however show viability may be adversely affected by significantly higher number cases negative effect mitigated only if benefit claim patterns remain weak observed On revenue side, potential a lower is offset rates UHC mandated schedule. expenditure increases associated introduction benefits are utilization due reduced mobility access health facilities.
